One Tree 2019
This unique 360 degree river coffee table was created to represent the Chemainus river and aquifer where the One Tree maple was harvested. This table was built for the One Tree exhibit at the Robert Bateman Foundation Gallery of Nature collaborating with Live Edge Design. Over 70 artists took pieces from this maple tree including myself and Hector Uriostegui.
Using heavily spalted maple we built this table by casting it in epoxy resin with a ratio of pigments to create a one of kind aqua blue. It is fit with four matching push open, and soft closing drawers. The table has industrial leg levelers and is finished with multiple coats of conversion varnish. Finally, was wet sanded and buffed to achieve a high gloss shine.
Being apart of the One Tree exhibit, and working with such talented artists has been an honour and a pleasure.
